How To Economize On Bathroom Fixtures

Is your bathroom boring, plain or just plain utilitarian? This part of your home is not just functional but has a character too. The master bathroom, in particular, should be open and inviting. Creating a spa kind of experience is a popular trend in redesigns. But, if you can't go all out and redo everything, the least you can do is replace existing pieces with custom cabinets.



A) Go to your local bed and bath store and purchase the most beautiful shower curtain you can find. Do not focus on price, FOCUS ON QUALITY. This is a very important element. except for the floors, it is the most visible item your guest will see. EVERYTHING rests on the shower curtain. If it costs more than you have budgeted for, save money someplace else. Keep in mind that quality does not mean loud or flashy. The shower curtain can be very simplistic in style. Quality means that after many showers it will still look new and fresh years from now.

In the bathroom, check around your toilet for signs of leaks. The wax seal under the toilet is most common area for leaks and water damage. This seal is a circular form of wax that connects and seals the toilet to the drain flange beneath. One sign of potential damage bathtub repair is if the toilet wobbles. This could mean the bolts that hold the toilet to the floor are loose or worn. This can cause the wax seal to crack or break. Water (and other material) may leak, causing discoloration to the ceiling on the floor below.

That same house had a Florida room addition. None of the rest of the house had wallpaper, but this room did, and it looked very tired. Because the room did not look perfect to begin with we decided reglazing tub not to spend labor cost on removing the wallpaper. Instead, we took some of the same paint color we were using in the rest of the house and painted over the wallpaper (after using an appropriate primer first). Install the drainage system including the p-trap and drain pipes attached to the tub. You will want to assemble all of the overflow pipes and drain pipes at this time. Once the pipes are all put together and you have determined they will fit together when the tub is in place you can install the ledgers.

If you can afford something a little better then maybe you can get the solid surface countertop. They are more expensive than the laminates but these counters can be restored if you do get nicks and cuts. The most expensive and most durable countertops are quartz bath tub restoration and granite surfaces.

It is possible not to get into the nitty-gritty steps of refinishing. You might want to use bathtub liners instead. As the term suggests, liners are placed over the tub surface like a cover or a layer. You might not want this option though if the overall condition of your tub is not good. A liner may not last very long.

You should give your newly glazed tub at least 12 hours to dry before touching it. Even so, make sure that you give it at least 48 hours before you attempt to use it again. You can then reapply the grout and caulking. Even though bathtub reglazing can be a complicated project, you will find that it is well worth it. If you are not comfortable performing this job by yourself then make sure to have someone who is experienced to help you out.
